ready for the happy weather!

spring pastels look pretty fresh this season. designers have ditched pastel grounded florals and dainty details for super textures and ice cream colors. ornate buttons and leather moto jackets give softness a sharp edge. styling this season is ice cream parlor inspired too…soft colored scoops sit stacked one on top of the other for a subtle color blocked look.
i mentioned before that mint was a pretty hot color this season. my favorite is the chanel jacket in the last image. yes please!
quinta witzel is photographed here by justin hollar for nylon march 2012. the chanel favorite was added courtesy of stylist james rosenthal. hair by martin-christopher harper and makeup by natasha smee.

so recently i was asked a question about long skirts and their staying power. everything from fast fashion retailers, next season’s trade shows, and high end editorials point to these lengths staying around.
the skirts are popping up in different fabrications; sheer silks and chiffons, heavy linen and canvas, printed fabrics, and embroidered and pleated detailing. some are straight with slits up the side and zippered closures. others are full circle pull ons. pair any of these looks with a solid, sheer blouse tucked in and belted for work. exchange for a tee shirt and cowboy boots for a more casual look.
for the next evolution in long skirts, check out high to low hemlines like this one!

a few images from the wildfox spring/summer 2012 lookbook. photographed by
emir eralp. models include; olga maliouk, ali stephens, crishell stubbs
chantal stafford abbott. with makeup by carlene k and hair by anna lee fiorino.
wildfox mixes their usual quirky printed tees with rows of ruffles, tulle and netting for this wild west shoot. all the great elements of western trouble….barmaids, cowgirls, whisky and guns.

natasha poly stars in this subtle pin-up campaign for proenza schouler. as always, fantastic structure and great lines from the duo. a nice play into the lemon lime rainbow this spring is concentrating on. (can’t go wrong with; mint green, lemon peel and chartreuse)

thanks so much to everyone who helped out with the show, attended, or just sent well wishes! i definitely have a few images and more info from that night, but i thought you all might want to take a look at a few images from the lookbook first….

my friend seth shimkonis was kind enough to spend the day with me taking and editing these photos. dawn kramlich lent her good looks to the operation!

another little peak at what’s been going on at the studio. this moto jacket turned into way more pieces than i expected it to! remember the bones + bows print from the by the yard show? i turned it into the lining used for some of the items in the show. you can see the shell in the second photo. guess you should come to the show to check out the finished product. ;o)
